Headteacher handover

A message from the Governing Body:

Gill Pinkerton, our Headteacher at Highgate Primary for the past 15 years, will be retiring at the end of this term. She has touched the lives of many people in Highgate and the school Governors are only one group among many who would like to take the opportunity to thank Gill for her many years of dedicated, inspirational service to the school and the community. We wish her a very happy retirement.

This year, the Governors undertook a search for a new head of Highgate Primary, and we are delighted to welcome William Dean as head from Autumn 2008. William is coming to our school from Rhodes Avenue Primary School near Alexandra Palace, and so knows the area very well. He has already been familiarising himself with staff, pupils, parents and governors by coming to the school and attending meetings. We wish him every success as he settles into his new post, and look forward to working with him.

Gill's visit to Ghana

Early in March Gill spent a week in Ghana sponsored by the British Council Headteacher International Placement Programme. She visited a number of schools and was impressed by the children's eagerness to learn and by the warmth of their welcome.

Happy New Year

Welcome back to school and a Happy New Year to you all! We have started the term by talking about personal goals and resolutions for 2008. Let's all work together to have another happy and successful year at Highgate Primary!
